#ObscuraWednesday · November Theme Reveal

#ObscuraWednesday · November Theme Reveal

Breath beads on cold glass; flocks thread dusk like cathedral arches — this is the descent. Keep the symbols luminous, let salt and smoke do their older work, listen for roots to speak. Step across the threshold with a small flame — join the circle.

What is #ObscuraWednesday? A weekly altar disguised as a hashtag — a living current where the unseen is met with care rather than captured. Each Wednesday we gather on Bluesky to lay down images, short stories, poems, photos, and sketches — not to perform, but to listen. It is a ritual of self-discovery: you bring an offering; the mystery answers.

All are welcome to enter the stream — artists, writers, photographers, occultists, and the simply curious. You don’t need to be a practicing mystic or a professional creative to belong here; drafts count, experiments count, witnessing counts. Our open themes are doorways, not directives: choose one, translate it into your medium (or your attention), and let the making reveal who you are becoming. #ObscuraWednesday is not a trend; it’s a current. Not a category; an aperture.

How to participate

  • Share a work in any medium (synthart, text, photograph, sketch) aligned to the week’s themes and add #ObscuraWednesday to be seen.
  • Hold the field with care: include alt-text where possible; offer content notes where needed; keep credit and consent clear.
  • Our shared vow each week: honor art as revelation and attention as devotion; keep the symbols luminous and the mystery inviolate.

Bring your lens, your line, your liturgy. November’s full set of themes follows below — choose one, braid several, or conjure your own theme to work with. Mystery is not a wall; it is the medium.

Step forward and weave with the current. Attend with reverence to what rises. Let the hidden speak.

November’s Mystical Weather

November enters like a hush that knows your name — breath visible, colors deepening, the world pared down to what matters. This is the descent month: roots speak, doors remember, salt and smoke do older work than language. Plan for slower rituals, sharper listening, and craft that ripens by patience rather than pressure. (inhale… exhale)

The month’s arc at a glance

  • Samhain Tide (early November): Though many mark Oct 31/Nov 1, the cross-quarter current continues through the first week as the Sun moves through the heart of Scorpio (around 15°). Veil-work, ancestor veneration, and threshold rites remain potent. Keep the altar low and simple: a cup of water, a candle, a name. If you’re not working within a tradition, favor quiet remembrance over spectacle.
  • From Scorpio to Sagittarius (late month shift): We travel from fixed water (depth, secrecy, the underworld well) into mutable fire (quest, road, revelation). Use the first three weeks for pruning, composting, and soul retrieval; let the turn toward Sagittarius (around the 22nd) spark pilgrimages, offerings on the road, and vows that move your feet.

Sky signs & night-watching

  • The November Full Moon (Beaver / Mourning Moon): Typically along the Taurus–Scorpio axis, this light invites body-wisdom and resource tending. Good for money magic with integrity, land offerings, and rites that bless tools you actually use (yes, the kitchen knife can be a sacrament when it serves sharing). Keep workings grounded, tactile, and slow.
  • The Dark / New Moon: This year, November’s new moon seeds late-Scorpio depth. Plan inward work, cord-cutting, and vow-setting on the dark nights; then on the first slim crescent, light a single flame and walk it to the door you most fear or most desire.
  • Meteor Showers:Taurids (early to mid-month): sparse but famous for slow, bright fireballs — excellent for omen-taking and candle rites outdoors. • Leonids (around the 17–18th): swift needles of light near Leo before dawn — use for petition work and directional prayers. Bring a thermos, two wishes, and a willingness to listen more than ask. (Note: exact peaks vary by location — check a local almanac for your sky.)
  • Royal Star Axis: As nights lengthen, Antares (Scorpio’s heart) sets toward the west while Aldebaran rises in Taurus — an east–west line of watchfulness. Work the axis as a balance rite: one red thread (courage, heartfire), one white stone (clarity, oath-keeping).

Devotional timing (low-effort, high-signal)

  • Planetary Days: Monday – Moon for cleansing and grief tending; Tuesday – Mars for boundary repairs; Wednesday – Mercury (our #ObscuraWednesday current) for divination, writing, sigils; Thursday – Jupiter for gratitude economies; Friday – Venus for hearth and kin; Saturday – Saturn for ancestor duties and ward maintenance; Sunday – Sun for simple blessings and bread. If you keep hours, align a single 15-minute practice to the day’s ruler — consistency beats complexity.
  • Monthly Crossroads (Hekate’s Deipnon): On the last dark night before the new moon, sweep thresholds, take offerings to a quiet place, and name what you’re ready to release. Walk home without looking back.

Herbs, smoke, and stone allies

  • Herbs/Spices: mugwort for dreaming; rosemary for remembrance; juniper for winter-ward; clove for warmth and word-magic.
  • Incense/Smoke: frankincense for solar steadiness, myrrh for descent-work, cedar for protective blessing.
  • Stones/Metals: obsidian for honest mirrors, smoky quartz for grief that wants to move, iron nails for boundary anchors (buried at corners, with consent from the land).

Housecraft & feasting rites

  • Wards & Windows: Reseal windows and doors as temperatures drop — salt water + smoke + breath. Speak your address like a prayer.
  • Ancestor Table: Bread, broth, and names. Replace water daily; write a letter and burn only a corner each night until it’s gone.
  • The Generous Knife: Let the act of slicing bread or fruit be ritual: divide to serve. The blessing is the sharing.

Small signs to watch

  • Flocks threading dusk like cathedral arches (a good hour for portable prayers).
  • First hoarfrost: trace a sigil on the pane, then wipe it clean — make and release in one breath.
  • Orion clearing the horizon after dinner: a cue to step outside, name a fear, and leave it with the stars.

What to plan for

  • One night out under meteors; one dark-moon release; one full-moon offering to land or local waters.
  • A mid-month check-in with your tools: sharpen, oil, bless what serves.
  • A simple vow you can keep between now and solstice.

November is a schooling in warmth: small flames, exact words, steady hands. Keep the pace unhurried, the symbols luminous, and the mystery intact. (inhale… hold… exhale)

Closing Invocation

#ObscuraWednesday is a ritual of self-discovery disguised as a hashtag. The themes above are not assignments; they are doorways. Step through any one of them with curiosity and care, and let the making show you who you are becoming.

All are welcome. You don’t need to be a practicing occultist or mystic to join — our current carries an occult/mystical thread, yes, but it’s braided with wonder, memory, and attention. If you are a practitioner, you don’t need to be a professional artist or author here. Drafts count. Experiments count. Quiet counts. This is about exploration, not perfection — about testing new ideas, learning your edges, and meeting your own voice in the work.

Bring what you have: a poem, a sketch, a photograph, a sigil, a paragraph of field notes, a single sentence that won’t let you sleep. Consider #ObscuraWednesday a weekly altar where process is devotion and witnessing is part of the art.

How to enter the current: choose a theme corresponding to the current week from above, make your offering, and then share it on Bluesky each Wednesday during November with #ObscuraWednesday (and #occultsky if you wish). Any medium. Any level. Include alt text or a brief note if your piece would benefit from context. Offer credit and consent where needed. Then stay a moment and witness someone else’s work — the current strengthens when we attend each other.

This month, let the making be your divination. Step across the threshold, speak the name of the door you chose, and see what answers back. We’ll meet you there.

Your turn. Pick a theme. Light a small flame. Post under #ObscuraWednesday.
